Jamal Speakes, High School Drama teacher at Dorsey High and a member of the LA church brings the Musical Phi' LA to the community.
Dorsey High School has shows at the end of this week.
The stage play's message has reached the heart of the community. LA Live Club Nokia hosts red carpet event as well.
With racial tensions and violence between African-Americans and Latinos greatly increasing among LA's youth, high school performing arts students have a powerful message of racial unity to share. "Phi'la The Musical!" addresses overwrought racial contention and its affect on friendships and family among a diverse group of teens in LA. The audience is taken on a journey that will push the envelope, spark debate and ultimately evoke
change in the community.
Jamal and Bernadette Speakes are longtime members of the Turning Point ministry of the LA Church. A few of the starring artists are members of their teen ministry.
