Texting, Facebook, and Video Games...technology is a wonderful thing -- but how do we use it? As parents, campus students, and singles, many times we focus on "scary sins" such as sexual impurity and deceit while the sneaky (and often overlooked) sin of idolatry began stealing hearts long ago.
In the 21st Century, we rarely worship idols made of wood, metal, or stone. However, often we are tempted to bow down to the "idols of the heart". We may place too high of a value on things, people, or relationships that absorb our emotional and mental energy. "Idols of the heart" secretly take God off of the throne of our lives.
Marcus and Amy Overstreet (Fort Lauderdale, FL) explored the relationship between technology and idolatry this summer at the Florida Discipleship Conference.
