From the Clemson Foothills Church: After almost 20 years, the waters of Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina are once again being used to accomplish one of the most amazing experiences in a person’s life. Baptism!

In the 1970’s and 1980’s dozens of men and women were baptized in Lake Hartwell and were added to God’s Kingdom and the Foothills Church of Christ. In 2009, after nearly 20 years, the waters of Lake Hartwell have once again been stirred with the Baptisms of Meredith Cole and DJ Alrutz!

In January of this year, 12 men and women began meeting in the home of Jarrod & Stacey Robinson and they were all given the charge to plant a new church and a new campus ministry in Clemson, South Carolina. After 2 months the group that was meeting in the Robinson’s home was getting too big so they made arrangements to begin meeting on the campus of Clemson University at Olin Hall room 200, a small 120 seat lecture room. The week before our first meeting there, some brothers and sisters placed an invite on the bulletin board in Olin Hall. Meredith, a student saw the invite and showed up on her own for service that Sunday. The following week she brought a couple of friends with her, DJ Alrutz and Blake Bladders. Meredith began studying the bible with Kristina Kesel and Stacey Robinson.

DJ is doing a coop in Columbia and so he began studying the bible with the brothers at University of South Carolina campus ministry. Both were baptized on May 3rd in Lake Hartwell and are the first two baptisms of the newly planted Clemson Foothills Church. Blake is also studying the bible and doing great! God is truly encouraging the brothers and sisters in Clemson as the waters of Lake Hartwell Stir once again!
