Curt Ammons teaches on the fascinating life of Solomon and the fight for purity. Certainly we can all learn a great deal from one of the wisest and richest men who ever lived, King Solomon.
While we are a very athletic family, we make sure to never put
sports before God or His church. Heidi is a native of Chicago and
played basketball and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
I, however, am a native of Ohio and am currently working on a Bible
degree. We met on a blind date after a good friend told me, even
before I had ever met Heidi, “Curt, I found your future wife.” He was
right, and here we are 15 years later, happily married and serving God
in the full-time ministry.
About five years ago at our summer teen camp, I felt the call from God
to devote my full-time attention to our high school ministry.
Previously, I had been serving as a lead evangelist for one of the
Chicago Church of Christ Ministry Centers. To some, this decision
might have looked like I decided to “go down the ministry ladder” you
might say. However, I knew at that time that my influence on this
group of young men and women would far surpass my influence with the
adults I was leading, most of whom were older than me.
In this sermon entitled “Solomon: The Fight for Purity", I charged the church to look at King David’s and King Solomon’s life in order to see what happened to someone whom you might refer to as the first “Kingdom Kid.”
At the end of the sermon, I focused heavily on Solomon’s 700 wives and 300 concubines, teaching the congregation that a life of self-living is never truly satisfied. I also challenged the congregation on the behavior of our teen ministry regarding their physical affection with one another. I encouraged everyone that we must re-ignite a call to holy living and purity with one another in our fellowship. I hope you enjoy the sermon.
