The demonstrations in Iran are turning increasingly violent. Many lives are at risk and the future of a nation is at stake. Similar to the days prior to the fall of the Iron Curtain, uncertainty and chaos are ruling the streets. For those of us who were disciples then, we distinctly remember how powerful intercessory prayers can be. Similarly, there is a great need for prayers of intercession for Iran today. As an Iranian-American, I have been an eye witness to the previous Iranian revolution and to a devastating war that followed it.
As a disciple of Jesus for the past 21 years and as a former missionary in the Middle East, I have seen many come to Christ due to
prayers that were laid before God from thousands of miles away. I would like to ask you to join me and my family in prayer for the Lord to intervene in this situation and to open up the doors for the gospel in Iran.
And let us remember Jesus’ words in Matthew 18:19-20, ‘I promise that when any two of you on earth agree about something you are praying for, my Father in heaven will do it for you. Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, I am there with you’ (CEV).
