The beautiful island of Bermuda occupies an area of 20.6 sq mi. and is located off the east coast of North Carolina. It has a diverse population of approximately 65,000 people. One of these is Alex Butterfield. He became a Christian at the Greater Atlanta Church of Christ in December 2006 while attending Georgia State University. He graduated in the summer of 2009 and had to move back home as he is not a citizen of the United States.Although saddened by this unusual situation God was setting up, he decided to make the most of it. He began evangelizing, reaching out to friends and family members in hopes of finding someone who would respond to God’s word. In the summer of 2010, disciples from the Greater Atlanta Church of Christ visited Bermuda over a two-week period in hopes of helping our brother. One woman, Deondre Cumberbatch, decided to make Jesus Lord and to serve alongside Alex on the island. They worked and prayed tirelessly, planting seeds in hopes that God would make them grow. Disciples from Atlanta continued to visit to help with ministry and encourage the disciples.
In Feb 2012, Alex got engaged to his girlfriend Alanna. They reconsidered their living options, hoping to relocate to a city with a church. They were not successful because of various immigration issues. Shortly after this, a young man named Altie got baptized in July 2012. On August 4th, Alex and Alanna got married and settled in Bermuda. They are now there on the island striving to live out the scriptures and to grow as a church, and they need YOUR help! (Matthew 9:35-38.)
We are looking for:
- Professionals looking to develop their careers in the accounting, insurance and reinsurance fields
- Disciples who would be willing to relocate to Bermuda to help build/plant the church
- Campus graduates who can take a year to be on the mission team.
If God places it on your heart to be a part of this journey, please contact us via e-mail for further information on immigration stipulations: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Love,
The Bermuda Christian Church
Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations. He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. 3 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his law the islands will put their hope. -- Isaiah 42:1-4
