I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

UPDATE: The San Pedro Sula Church of Christ is mourning the loss of two of its children. Heavy rains on Friday caused flooding in the streets. Lizet de Diaz, a member of the church in San Pedro Sula, was riding in a red Honda Civic along with her husband and two small children. As they tried to make it through the flooded streets their car was drug by the current sweeping their children out of the window and down the street. The parents were also carried by the current. Both of the children's bodies were found lifeless. Lizet is in critical condition in the hospital. Joaquin, the children's father sustained minor injuries. Joaquin who attends church but is not a member along with Lizet are in need of your prayers.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Honduras (San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa) for their safety and that they may be an example. Dulce Cruz, women's ministry leader in San Pedro Sula, is here in Chicago with her 8 year old daughter and will speak at the Spanish speaking Womens_Day. We have not been able to communicate to Honduras for the past three days.
This situation equals a 20 year regress in Central American democracy. Central America has exercised democracy since the 80's and in 1996 marked the end of declared struggle between government and resistance groups.
