Seattle Students Making an Impact Featured

The cold and wet Northwest winters usually mean that students spend their time indoors and away from others. This winter though, the brothers and sisters in Seattle have seen God work in a way that has inspired the faith of the Church.  The year started with many of our friends coming back from Christmas break desiring to continue studying the Bible and reconcile with God.  One by one, and some weeks, two by two, they made decisions to get baptized into Christ.  It was pretty unique for the winter quarter and I believe it has much to do with the spirit of the disciples who spent the fall quarter growing closer to God and growing closer as a campus family. We spent the fall with a focus on God and started the winter quarter with an all night prayer for our friends; and God did amazing things. This Wednesday, we baptized the ninth college student this year.

What is especially challenging is that Seattle is one of the most secular cities in the country, with only 30% of the population ascribing to a form of Christianity.  That number is substantially less in its college-age population, where you might be on campus all day and not encounter anyone interested in studying the Bible or even talking about God. But the faith of the disciples has been amazing and they have chosen to persevere and reach out to people with an emphasis on building lasting relationships and Godly friendships with the friends they meet, rather than just focusing on trying to find people who are interested in finding God right away. Regularly on Sundays, there are over 80 students attending Church and they bring a lot of energy and faith to the worship.

Please keep the Seattle Campus Ministry in your prayers, as the disciples are faithful and have a vision to see 50 students give their hearts to God and be reconciled with Him this year.
