Currently ranked the 12th best National University according to U.S. News and World Report, Northwestern U is a distinguished institution that carries all of its achievements with pride and honor, and produces top-notch graduates that go on to successful careers. Northwestern Alumni (known by some as the ‘Purple Mafia’) form a vast network across the U.S. and include such distinguished figures as actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus; comedians Stephen Colbert, David Schwimmer, and Seth Meyers; White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel; and U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.
God has a plan for this University to
be a catalyst of change for not only Chicago but across the globe. The
NU campus ministries experienced their glory days in the 1980s through
early 2000s, and during the past decades great men and women of the
faith have walked the Evanston campus, boldly preaching the Word.
Though
the campus has experienced a period of spiritual drought and the days
of large, booming ministries have faded into memory, God has been
stirring and calling for a spiritual reinvigoration at Northwestern.
Currently, three disciples live and study on campus, each different and
pioneering in their own ways. Roderick Goodlow, a sophomore, plays Left
Back for the Wildcat Football team and is pursuing a B.S.Ed. in
Learning and Organizational Change through the School of Education and
Social Policy. Andrew Briggs, a Junior, is pursuing a dual degree, a BS
in Computer Science through the McCormick School of Engineering and a
BA in English through the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.
Lafayette Cruise, a sophomore, is pursuing an adjunct BA degree in
International Studies and Social Policy, also in Weinberger College of
Arts and Sciences.
In Matthew 18:20, Jesus said, “For
where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." No
matter how small a group may be God will work through his people. By
daring to believe and dream what the world deems impossible, those who
step out in faith will win Northwestern Campus for God, and will leave
their mark upon this world.
Northwestern University invites all
those who seek a fresh, exciting challenge: not only must disciples
compete with some of the most academically talented and driven young
men and women the world has to offer, but more importantly, they are
called to excel as Christians in their faith and in a young, blossoming
ministry. Northwestern is looking for disciples with a deep desire to
grow and mature, to build God’s kingdom, and to bring as many to the
light as possible.
The Northwestern University motto,
Quaecumque Sunt Vera, translates to “Whatsoever is true,” quoting
Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Disciples of God are called to bring
the Truth the world, and to live out the dream and vision Christ set
before us. The call is forever in front of us, and the question we must
always ask is “Will we answer that call?”
To God be the Glory!
