Boston Campus Ministers Needed

The resurgence in the campus ministries ofthe International Churches of Christ is opening the door for morefull-time campus ministers both male and female. The Boston Church ofChrist is looking to hire someone in the next few months and isoffering to coordinate matching candidates with other churches who arehiring. See the information below.

Godcalls his people to proclaim his gospel fervently and effectively inevery generation. In our day, God has used the campus ministry as aprominent centerpiece to accomplish this task. Five years ago, thrivingcampus ministries were vanishing. However, over the last few years,there has been a resurgence in the college ministries throughout ourchurches. Many churches throughout our fellowship are looking for youngpeople with faith, the proper gifts and the right heart to be campusministers. The Boston Church of Christ is looking to interviewpotential candidates for campus ministry positions in Boston, NewEngland, and in churches throughout our fellowship.

God has moved powerfully in the campus ministries of the Boston Churchover the last several years. There have been some 70 students convertedin the Boston Church over the last three years, 10 at Harvard in thelast two years, and as of this summer there will have been 12 graduatessent into campus and teen ministries over the last three years. ThisJune, Glenn and Danielle Petruzzi, two heroes of the Boston Church,will be leaving the campus ministry to plant the church in Portland,Maine. This opens up a job opportunity in the Boston campus ministry.

The Boston Church is looking to hire a man and a woman for thepositions of full-time campus ministers. There are nearly 300,000students attending college in the greater Boston area. Many of theschools are among the best universities in the world. As such, there isa great need to have a thriving campus ministry in Boston, able to holdthe gospel out to these souls.

Theman and woman hired will join a team of four other campus ministers ledand trained by Kevin and Melissa Miller. The following qualificationsare needed: a four-year undergraduate degree from a college oruniversity, effective leadership experience in a campus ministry, aswell as a resume and references. This will be a training role andtherefore previous full-time ministry experience is not needed. Theflexibility of schedule to run with the college pace of life isnecessary. The interview process will begin immediately and will end byMay 1, 2010.

Other opportunities are also opening up. Campus ministries in ourfellowship consistently get calls from churches looking to hire youngmen and women close to graduation who want to serve as campusministers. The Boston Church, in cooperation with other churches, wouldlike to interview potential candidates interested in serving in thisway to help match them with churches looking for campus ministers.
