That next week, our campus ministry of 120 disciples prayed together every night in the University of Florida football stadium (home of the national champion Florida Gators) and simultaneously shared with about 6000 college students in Gainesville. At our first service for the Fall semester, God blew us away by bringing out 100 student visitors to church!
f course, now the work was just beginning. Over the course of the next 15 weeks, we held weekly bible talks around UF and Santa Fe Community College with an average of about 80-100 of our friends visiting each week. Also throughout the semester, we held a weekly Ministry Training Program (MTP) where about 20 student leaders met in my living room to have accountability, give book reports, perform practice preaching (prepared and spontaneous), and be taught scripturally by our congregational teachers, Jeff Chacon and Randy Summers.
It has been absolutely awesome! Throughout this semester, we have seen many students grow exponentially in the Lord as well as witness 16 students (8 men, 8 women) be converted to Christ!!! I am amazed at the quality of the students that God has allowed us to reach this semester - all of them are simply phenomenal.
As Paul says to the Corinthian church regarding all of the apostles, "We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ!" (1Cor 4:10). Let us never become so "wise in Christ" that we forget to simply be fools for the Lord. To God be the glory!
