I got a chance to meet up with my campus minister as we walked around the harbor. He filled me in on what had been going on back home, as I did my best to condense my experiences this summer into the thirty minutes we had before the opening lesson – we did what we could.
We filed into the main ballroom to be met with a new vibe for the morning devotional; no chairs this just a spare patch of carpet to pull up, and a chance to be lead in the largest group quiet time I have ever had. Many preachers have a talent for preaching, but I think Chris Clawson from Colorado is still my favorite to listen to read the bible. The theme scripture was (Revelation 4:8), and for the next half hour, Chris helped us to see our future in the hands of God. Often are quiet times need to be pointed sessions where devote ourselves to a topic, to refinement and discipline, but every once and a while it is good to be reminded worthy of reverence God is. This morning we were taken there. Chris reminded us that in the throne room of heaven there is no struggle to overcome our past, no excessive concern for the present, and no confusion of what will be in the future.
The afternoon was ours after that, and many disciples went on dates, toured the town, and took advantage of being always within 10 feet of another Christian. I got the opportunity to attend the One Year Challenge mixer where ministries from around the country pleaded for disciples to answer the call to serve after college. To learn more about this great experience please see Disciple Adventures if you have even a curiosity about the One Year Challenge.
The night finished with dinner and semi formal dance along with a photobooth. In true kingdom fashion lasted an hour longer than it was scheduled. No one wanted to leave. In fellowship the size of a small graduate school class, I remembered how special this is. The people are different ever year, but the faith, it is the same.
